Caretaker

lyrics

If you knew her, you'd agree with me.
Pure pleasantry despite her destiny.
Filled with love and would see the best in people.
But what's left just got the best of her.
She was raised underneath the constant screams
Demeaning her esteem as she pleads.
Trying not burst at the seams.
She let this tide carry away her dreams.
She can't count every bruise from this cycle of abuse.
Her brother and sister with her were all trapped up inside this noose.
Her mother was the matriarch, she made the dark into lightness,
Her brightness was a spark to overcome the darkness's mightiness.
When that look was on his face, her mum would try to make a safe place.
Try to change their dark fate.
Try to make some magic out of something that was tragic.

She gave up her life when her mama needed her.
Cancer. Changing diapers and feeding her.
She'd pay the ransom for the answer of healing her.
Rancid bed pans from the chance of relieving her.
But she can't stop this accident, she never asked for this.
She can't lose the pacifist who acted against the harassment and attacks from him.
Now the past tense stings with overwhelming relevance.
The smell of the flowers in those final hours sickens her, it thickens her blood.
Splinters like wood.
They should smell good but the stench in her heart overtakes.
Her heart breaks, her heart aches more than she ever thought it would.
When the beeps merge into a tone, she knows she's alone.
There's now no place in the world that feels like home.

When the beeps merge into a tone, she knows she's alone.
When the beeps merge into a tone, she knows she's alone.
There's now no place in the world that feels like home.
When the beeps merge into a tone, she knows she's alone.

Who's going to take care of the caretaker?

Some of us were just born to die.
Some of us were just born to live.
Some of us lost themselves along their way,
Don't receive but only give.

We're all doing the best we can.
We're all doing the best we can with what we got.
Even if what we got ain't enough sometimes.

We keep pushing on on empty.
